Dawn

"That ball of nuclear fusion is rising in the sky and sends photons streaming through my window.


Eight minutes journey as seen by me from across 90 million miles.
But instantaneous from the point of view of the photon. And a hundred thousand years spent bouncing around before it could escape from the core. A core that burst into light 5 billion years ago when this star was born.


From the same cloud of dust that the earth was. And the matter in our bodies too. Bathing with light and heat every 12 hours this pale blue dot that keeps my species alive day after day.


A little tilt away and winter falls.
A tilt closer and summer scorches.

If this is not magic what is..."
