Mona Lisa

"Her unblinking eyes have been staring at the world for 500 years. Her gaze still looks over endless streams of men...admirers, stone pelters, connoisseurs and the clueless ...
From behind bulletproof glass.

In Italian Mona is “my lady”. My lady Lisa. In French she’s “La Joconde” after her married name. In Arabic countries, it is derived from the given name Muna, meaning " unreachable wishes". Has it something also to do with the Indic “Mon” ?

In life, she’s belonged to a merchant and in death, to Kings, countries and even a thief. But if you were to ask her she’ll say she’s ever known only one man. The one she opened her eyes to, as his final brush strokes brought her to life. The strokes you can still see on her face if you look close.

We look at her ... she looks at him. And in her mind, that is where she belongs.

500 years flowing on the outside. One moment frozen on the inside.
Behind bulletproof glass."
